The idea for this quirky wall hanging came to me suddenly and I couldn’t stop until it was hanging on my wall. It’s a quick, satisfying project to complete and definitely adds character to the walls!
I tested the pattern with different types of yarn – 2 strands of worsted cotton + 6.5mm (K) hook, and then a single strand of chunky t-shirt yarn + 7mm (L) hook (seen in the pictures was Bernat Home Dec, approx 70 yards). Both had similar results, so go ahead and experiment with your yarn stash and different hook sizes!
To make the bottom tassels, wrap yarn around a hardcover book and cut. Bundle 3 strands together and fold in half. Use your crochet hook to knot your evenly spaced tassel bundles along the bottom (V) edge. Upper tassels are evenly placed around the single crochet posts of row 8, then trimmed as evenly as your perfectionism will allow! Use driftwood, a tree branch or wood dowel to hang. Consider blocking your work if it doesn’t lay flat.

• starting chain doesn’t count as stitch throughout pattern
• start row 1 with an arm-length tail to use for attaching piece to top hanging dowel
• bobble stitch: yarn over hook, insert into stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook; repeat 5 times. To finish, yarn over and pull through all 6 loops on hook, ch1 to close. ** The bobble should not be counted as a stitch. When crocheting the row above the bobbles, always skip over the ch 1 bobble stitch **
